Hey everybody,
Just got home last night from Baja....what a crazy trip. 7 hours
into the trip I pull over and let my friend drive. An hour later
and we run off the road down a ditch and flip into a river bed.
Luckily, we all made it out safely, with only minor cuts and
bruises. I got hit in the eye with the 20lb tire jack, and that
was about the worst of
our
injuries. So we got a ride back to San quintin and waited there
to talk to the insurance adjustor for 5 hours. After that we
were rescued by my Friend Eric Freidrichsen from San Diego, who
picked us up and we continued on our adventure.
We headed down
to Mulege because the pacific side was really stirred up. We hit
the local islands there on Sat, and scored some decent fish,
Harold got a 30+lb rooster, a 15lb barred pargo, and some nice
cabrillas. I scored a 23.5 lb golden
grouper, and a 54 lb rooster, as well as some 13-15lb barred
pargo. I was stoked because I got all the fish with my 4ft gun!!
We then spent
the Night at the Hotel Serenidad and Had the pig roast Dinner,
YUMMYYY, as well as a few margaritas. (Ryan had way too many and
ended up with some 300 lb transvestite, JK)
Next AM we
woke up and headed towards home, but decided to take a detour
and stop by tortuga to tell them we were OK, since they had been
expecting us since
Friday.
We got there about 3:00 pm, stopped by the hotel, chatted with
carols for a while, then headed to Punta Eugenia to see how
Tomas was. We passed him on the Dirt Road, and he offered to
take us out for the afternoon to Rica Negra. There was 6ft waves
crashing in the harbor, so conditions didn't look good, but once
in the water, we were greeted with 30-50ft VIS. We ended up with
some nice YT, all
40lbers, 8 total. The guys were really stoked to get into their
first big YT. I ended up getting 3 nice ones.
The AM after
we decided to hit The grouper areas, but the vis was WAY down,
3-7ft, so we didn't do that great. But we ended up checking one
last spot, and Ryan ended up scoring 2 20-25lb grouper.
After that,
we headed home, and made it home safely.
Here's some
pics for you guys to check out.....
